On Christmas Day 2013, we were able to spend some quality time with Casey at the hospital. The nurses were wonderful and we are so grateful for them sacrificing their time to help t the many patients at the hospital on Christmas.
Casey was awake and alert enough to help Max and Tenley open some presents, and spend time with family.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to Skype with Angie’s little brother Donny, who is serving a LDS mission in Edmonton, Canada! Casey was able to lift his hand and wave Hi, to Donny. We visited with him and he shared a spiritual message about Jesus’ love and gift of sacrifice. He challenged us to give a little bit back by serving others so they can also feel the love that God has for all of us.
Casey’s parents, who live in Morgan, Utah, decided last minute to drive out to California Christmas morning to be with their son. This blessing allowed for Casey to be watched over and have continuous companionship during his remaining stay at the Hospital.
After a few hours, and the kids becoming restless, the time came to let Casey rest with Angie for the remainder of the day.

When saying our goodbyes, we saw a true glimpse of Casey when he gave his brother-in-law his trademark “bro grip.” (Clasping hands, palm to palm, gripping around each others thumbs and hand.)
When leaving the room, saying “We love you Casey!”, he responded very clearly, looking back at us, “I love you too guys.”
